MOU between DB INSURANCE CO., LTD and Daonda Auto Glass Co., Ltd.
DB Insurance Co., Ltd. and Daonda Auto Glass Co., Ltd. signed a business agreement on the 8th at the 11th floor of the DB Insurance building located in Cho-dong, Seoul, for establishing the right repair culture and providing consumers with the option to choose car glass replacement and repair.
The goal of the agreement is to give customers the option of ‘repair first, replace later" when repairing the windshield of an accident vehicle, where restoration is possible and replacement is not.
Windshield restoration is a popular repair method in North America and Europe, and the idea that cracks smaller than 35 centimeters should be restored first has become popular. However, due to the low awareness of glass restoration in Korea, even insurance industry officials are not familiar with the standards for the type and scope of restoration, and it has become popular to recommend replacement when conducting insurance claims.
The key areas of cooperation between the two companies are: high-quality, fast repairs; prevention of over- and under-extended repairs; and transparent repair billing to prevent adjusters and technicians from being forced to replace parts. This is expected to have a positive impact on consumers‘ ability to make ‘rational choices" and adjusters' ability to "prevent premium increases," the company said.
“I was surprised to learn that the repair range of glass restoration, which I had not known in detail, is up to 35 centimeters, and there were many cases of repair without replacement during the test period of both companies,” said Park Kyung-hak, Director of DB Auto Insurance Claims. “I think it is an essential task to reconsider and expand the awareness of glass restoration to capture both rationality and eco-friendliness.”.
“Glass restoration is very economical at a quarter of the replacement labor cost, and windshields are becoming scarce due to the difficulty of gas energy supply in European factories and expensive due to ADAS (intelligent driver assistance system) technology,” said Lee Jae-chun, CEO of Daonda Auto Glass. We will set the right course for the consumer market, which is forced to start with replacement, with restoration.".
