Daonda Auto Glass launches professional certification training for ‘Glass Repair Technician’
Licensing News = Park Se-chang | Daonda Auto Glass (CEO Lee Jae-chun), the only glass restoration and glass replacement shop franchise in Korea, is launching its first certification training program after the launch of the ‘glass repair technician’ qualification.Glass restoration technology is still unfamiliar in Korea, and there are few ‘technicians’ who practice it professionally.
Due to the lack of awareness of glass restoration, many people prioritize replacement even though it is cheaper than full replacement at a quarter of the cost due to the lack of awareness of glass restoration. On the other hand, in overseas countries, ‘glass restoration technicians' have become a professional occupation due to the continuous development of specialized equipment and resin materials since the 80s, with high technical skills and public awareness.
In order to foster such a high level of technicians and simultaneously fulfill its mission of being a leader in overseas technology, Daonda Auto Glass has made the role of an educational institution one of its business plans for this year and launched a certification training program for the first time. The ‘Glass Repair Technician’ qualification launched by the headquarters consists of three days of basic training and two weeks of practical tests, and is aimed at both experienced and newly established franchisees nationwide as well as those who are new to the field of auto glass technology.
After qualifying as a glass technician, they are assigned to the branch closest to their home and given the opportunity to obtain higher levels of qualification as they gain more years of experience.Meanwhile, the training program was written by the Glass Repair Technical Committee, composed of glass repair experts at the headquarters, and was developed through a year-long standardization process, and includes the ability to use overseas equipment and theory through the company's own know-how over the years and business cooperation (MOU) with overseas specialist companies. In this regard, Lee Jae-chun said, “Automobile glass, which belongs to high added value, is often replaced without knowing how to restore it due to the lack of public awareness.
It is a very common technology overseas, and due to the lack of awareness in Korea and the lack of proper training, many companies that provide services without proper training often come back to us due to poor repair quality.” “We will play the role of an educational institution rather than a franchise company that simply constructs, and play the role of a leader in advanced technology through overseas training.” Meanwhile, the courses of the certification training program include the theory of windshield repair, understanding the key equipment for success, safety and preparation repair process, and repair troubleshooting.
