Daonda Auto Glass Signs MOU with Henkel Korea for Automotive Glass Maintenance Training
Daonda Auto Glass signed a multilateral MOU with Henkel Korea and BSG Korea at 2 PM on the 28th at Henkel Korea's Gasan Automotive Maintenance Technical Training Center.
Henkel, founded in 1876, is a global company with over 140 years of history. It is a leading global player with a top-tier position, operating in 125 countries based on its Adhesives, Beauty Care, and Household Products divisions, and employing 53,000 people.
Daonda Auto Glass is Korea's largest franchise specializing in automotive glass restoration and replacement. As the industry pioneer in Korea, it uniquely operates a certification system established through setting industry standards for glass repair and replacement technology and ethical guidelines. It maintains 22 certified franchise locations nationwide with over 35 experts and holds international certifications from overseas glass repair companies such as Deltakits, GlassWeld, and NWRD (National Windshield Repair Association).
This MOU was signed to provide training for certified technicians on Henkel Korea's Daonda Auto Glass, supply sealant products, and offer marketing support, as well as to ensure smooth sealant distribution to all Daonda Auto Glass stores nationwide by BSG Korea. The core agreement of the MOU is the proper manual training for Henkel adhesive sealants required during windshield replacement. The performance of adhesive sealants during windshield replacement is the most critical aspect. Similarly, manufacturer-provided manual training tailored to the characteristics of the adhesive sealant must be supported to ensure a perfect windshield replacement is performed.
As autonomous driving technology advances, the importance of windshield replacement and the performance of sealants are receiving increased attention. This is because the reliable adhesion and optimal condition of the windshield, which accounts for 45-60% of a vehicle's structural strength, are prerequisites for autonomous driving, as it relies more on AI algorithms and high-sensitivity sensors than on human judgment. Regarding this, Lee Jae-cheon, CEO of Daonda Auto Glass, stated, “The importance of windshield replacement is growing daily due to autonomous driving technology. Simply using the highest-grade adhesive sealant does not guarantee vehicle safety.” He added, “While the skill of technicians with excellent technical expertise is important, it is crucial to follow the manufacturer's manual for the pre-treatment process to attach the glass. This means adhering to the manufacturer's guidelines for the manual work method, not relying on previous work practices.”.
He added, “We are confident this MOU will serve as a stepping stone for Daonda Auto Glass to grow further as a domestic glass repair and replacement specialist. We also anticipate an upgraded level of service from certified technicians and will lead the qualitative growth of domestic windshield replacement services.” Kim Moon-soo, Director of Henkel Korea's Automotive Maintenance Division, added, “Just looking at the US and Europe, windshield repair and replacement services are specialized and franchised.
It is regrettable that the front windshield sector, which is directly linked to consumer safety, remains underdeveloped domestically compared to overseas markets. We will support Daon Da Auto Glass in growing within Korea's automotive maintenance sealant business by providing quality products, training, and marketing, and we will exert a positive influence on the domestic auto glass repair industry.
